We a local compaign group in Reading, Berkshire, UK called CABFAS.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Contact forms

If you opt to use our contact form to contact us, an email with your name, email address and message will be send to our email system. We will store these emails in our email system and will also use your details to reply (if needed).

Mailing list

You have the option to subscribe to our mailing list by filling in your name and email into the ‘subscribe to our mailing list’ form.

We will then keep your name and email in our Database so that we can email you updates relating to the CABFAS Campaign.

The emails and names that were provided via the ‘Subscribe to mailing list’ form will be kept private and only used for the purpose of sending you updates on the campaign.

You can unsubscribe from the mailing list by clicking on the ‘unsubscribe’ link in any of the Mailing list emails.

Alternatively you can send us an email on: [email protected] asking us to manually remove you from our mailing list. Please email using the same email account as you subscribe to the mailing list with.

Campaign meetings

During campaign meetings, we will pass an attendee sheet around for attendees to fill in. If you choose to give your details, these will be published in any meeting minutes.

Direct email communication between CABFAS and also its attendees

Some attendees like to email each other to discuss actions or events relating to the campaign. If this is the case, they are asked to confirm that they are ok with their email address being shared with the other recipient on the emails.

Note: This is separate from the CABFAS subscription mailing list (where email addresses are NOT shared).

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Analytics

Who we share your data with

We use third party IT services to host our website and also run our email system. Therefore your data is stored in those IT systems. However the data is protected by HTTPS and also passworded accounts that only the CABFAS key members has access to.

Please note that if you write comments on our website or facebook pages they are inherently public and thus can be viewed by any visitors to the sites.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

If you subscribe to our mailing list, your name and email will be stored indefinitely or until you unsubscribe (see mailing list section of this policy).

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, subscribed to our mailing list, sent us an email, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
